Well it’s been a few days since the last community digest, apologies for that fact, although it is Easter weekend so I’m sure you can understand. There have been two new sites on top of the new content which I’ll comment on individually after this update.
First up CM Frenzy have a new guide to playing online. To be honest the mess that is the CM Frenzy site rather ruins it for me but the screenshots alone should give you the general jist of what you need to know.
FM Pro have a new player guide which looks at a kid who I must say looks like a woman with a shaved head, in the form of 16 year old Kieran Gibbs, who’s widely regarded as the next Cesc Fabregas.
We keep with player guides as we head over to Manager Crisis and look at guides focusing on Micah Richards and Antti Niemi respectively. They follow in the recent trend of Manager Crisis updates by being of a top quality and depth looking at various areas of the player within the game, particularly his strengths and weaknesses.

Antti Niemi - Visit It / Rate It
Finally Goal Kick have a whole host of updates, well five to be specific. The majority come from ex Throw In man and now one of the men behind What He Said. I’m sure I’ve read a few of them before, but I can’t seem to find them so perhaps I haven’t.
The first article is definitely one I’ve read before but in the confines of a private word document exchanged over the highly regarded program known as MSN Messenger. The problem with dumping articles like this onto sties months after they’ve been written is that they’re out of date. Football Manager articles can last forever, or at least until the new game comes along. But community articles? Sorry but they just don’t last and it’s disappointing to see an article discussing Throw In in particular and referring to situations that are very different now and not taking into any consideration any of the new developments.
In all honesty it just screams of the staff at Goal Kick trying to boost the activity of their mainsite without any regard to the actual content of the articles being posted up, which is a crying shame.
The second piece from Goal Kick is also a community based article courtesy of Toony, however it’s a lot more relevant than the previously slated piece. It discusses the power struggle between members and staff on the various forums around the community. Although the article speaks a lot of truth and I agree with much that the author has to say however it’s rather depressing to see such things being discussed and the realisation that such things go on and the majority of people in this god forsaken hell hole are sad little people who care far to much about “power” and “status”.
All in all, as interesting an insight into human nature as it is, it’s a depressing article which says a lot for the community as a whole.
I’m glad to say that the third article for Goal Kick is an FM orientated one. It looks at Spanish Side Athletico Bilbao and the fact that they buy players solely of a Basque nationality. The author then uses this example and the evidence upheld by Athletic Bilbao’s long running success in the Spanish top flight to suggest that building squads with a home grown ethos could well give you a heightened advantage in FM2007 and is certainly something we should all look into.
The fourth article from Goal Kick is yet another community based article but one that is highly comical in the simplicity of the idea behind it. Very simply the article claims that much of the community is pointless as the booklet which comes with the game explains the majority of what we need to know. It’s something I’ve often felt before I even attempted to get hold of a copy of the manual from SI that I could put online her at the portal to shut everybody who keeps writing about the same old crap up. Alas it didn’t come to fruition, but I’m glad other people are finally picking up on the idea and highlighting it.
The fifth and final article from Goal Kick comes in the form of YET ANOTHER article concerning getting bored of FM2007. There have already been a whole host of articles on the subject, there were hundreds of articles on the subject last year and even if you use the powers of the wayback when machine to look up the CM sites of yesteryear you find articles talking about getting bored of the game, I’ve said it before to much critisicm but I’ll say it again nonetheless, think of something else to bloody write about I’m bored of reading about boredom!
AND very, very, very, very, finally (well bar the reviews of two new sites which have released this bank holiday weekend) Caleyjag has released version 1.0.8 of My FM Clan, which contains a number of bug fixes and security fixes, so head over to the site now to find out more!
